​1. Purpose of establishment

Today's plant science research combines traditional cell structure, morphology, plant physiology and ecological environment with contemporary molecular biology, cytology, biochemistry and various body sciences, making the discussion of plant science a comprehensive study.

In the face of global warming, plants are challenged by biotic and abiotic stresses, resulting in significant losses in yield and quality. How to breed stress-resistant varieties, improve the nutritional quality of plants or crops, and understand their relative molecular mechanisms have become urgent challenges.

The biotechnology industry has become the cornerstone of every country's strength. This degree program expands from basic academic fields to applied science and technology. In addition to receiving comprehensive training in basic research, students are also equipped with the ability to apply in the biotechnology industry.

​2. Academic System

3. Learning process

(1) This degree program is a collaboration between industry and academia, and the thesis research is based on solving practical industrial problems. The Institute and partner companies jointly form an Industry-Academic Research and Development Doctoral Program Research and Development Committee (Industry-Academic Research and Development Association) to guide and advise students on the direction of their studies and research.

(2) Plan for the 2-year learning improvement stage at school: through the course platform "Precision Agriculture", "Plant Factory Technology", "Plant Technology and Environmental Adversity", "Agricultural Products Processing Technology Marketing" and "Bio-Intellectual Property Laws and Regulations", students can Take elective courses and earn necessary credits.

(3) Students should submit a thesis proposal and apply for the doctoral qualification examination within two years of admission. The theme of the thesis research is mainly to solve industrial practical problems. Those who pass the qualification examination will be qualified as doctoral candidates. Those who fail the qualification examination will beHalfSubmit for re-examination within the year. Those who fail the second time will be required to withdraw from the course and the subsidy will be terminated.

(4) Industrial R&D stage: Internship in cooperative industries for 2 consecutive years, or implement R&D projects through industry-university cooperation projects.

4. Graduation Requirements

(1) Compulsory credits: special discussion (1 credit X 4 semesters), special topic in plant science (2 credits X 2 semesters), special research (1 credit X 6 semesters).

(3) Propose academic research publications (one of the following 3a and 3b applies)

(3a) Publish a paper as the first author in one of the top 40% SCIE journals in plant science-related fields.

(3b) Publish a paper as the first author in a SCIE journal in a field related to plant science, and meet at least one of the following three conditions: developed products for sale, patents that can be authorized, and results recognized by the Industry-Academia R&D Association.

(4) Pass the degree examination as assessed by the Degree Examination Committee

(5) Those who cannot meet the above graduation requirements may be processed according to the general academic doctoral student enrollment mechanism.

5. Cooperative industries

(1) Our institute cooperates with high-quality companies, and both parties sign a letter of intent for cooperation and reach a preliminary agreement on confidentiality agreements and the ownership of research results. Students and industry-university R&D companies have the obligation to abide by confidentiality.

(2) The ownership of intellectual property rights is determined according to individual industry-university cooperation plans.

6. Matters declared in accordance with the law

(1) The school should properly explain the following matters to students who participate in this "Ministry of Education-subsidized university industry-university cooperation program to cultivate doctoral-level R&D talents" program, and ask students to sign a consent form.

(2) Students should participate in this program as full-time students. Students should withdraw from this program due to suspension of study, withdrawal from school, failure in academic performance evaluation or company evaluation, or full-time employment during regular semesters (including winter and summer vacations). The school should immediately stop allocating scholarships and bursaries, and shall not apply for scholarships due to resumption of schooling or participation in other projects.

(3) For those who apply to withdraw from this program for any reason, in addition to stopping the disbursement of scholarships and stipends, the school shall recover one-half of the total amount of scholarships and stipends they have received.
